Room Parents Responsibilities
Being a Room Parent is a wonderful way to be involved with
your child’s class.  The main responsibility of a Room Parent is
to help with class communication.  It is not the Room Parent’s
responsibility to be present at every room party and sponsored
event.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attend the Room Parent Meeting:
    •  TBD - One meeting at the beginning of the school year.

Coordination of classroom activities:
    •  Class parties – (Fall, Christmas & Valentine parties)
    •  Teacher’s birthday
    •  Teacher Appreciation Week

Coordination of class-sponsored event
    •  Each class is responsible for being the primary volunteers for one PTL
sponsored event.  These events and their class sponsor are listed on the
      Room Parent Calendar.

Correspondence/Communication:
    •  At the start of the school year, create an e-mail list of all classroom parents and
distribute it to make connections about classroom events and requests easier.
    •  Recruit parents for class sponsored event and/or special projects.

Creating community in the classroom family:
    •  Welcome all new families to the classroom.
    •  Respond when life cycle events take place in the family of one of the students or
teachers.  This might include coordinating meals to families that have just had a
birth or death in the family.
